The Bible teaches us that "the person without the spirit (of God) does not accept the things that come from the spirit of God but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit" (1 Corinthians 2:12-14). Put simply Prayer is not an intellectual matter and must not be inoculated by the virtues of intellectualism and human philosophy. Prayer is talking to God. Prayer is work but prayer works. Prayer at a deeper personal spiritual level and reflection means the desire to work on oneself, to work on one's character, and to work on one's attitude consistently until Christ is fully formed in you. It is only prayer mixed with faith and reading the word of God that can achieve that transformation in a person's life.
