The author, Stephen Wollaston, was given the name Santoshan by an English Swami. He studied world religions and religious education at King's College London and was the bass guitarist of one of London's first punk rock bands, The Wasps. He has been a trustee of the UK charity GreenSpirit for many years, is a member of its publications and editorial team, and authored, coauthored and edited more than a dozen books on spiritual and Gaia-related topics. In 2020 he was ordained as a OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation minister.
