But the gaps in the halls of the Acropolis Museum, the white plaster additions in place of sculptures removed two centuries ago, resonate next to the gaps from which we ourselves are made: the guilt and shame, when one day we recognize the thread that connects us to the parent we considered distant and from whom we wanted to free ourselves; that feeling that we are never worthy of what we have acquired, the permanent feeling that we are and remain impostors, some stealing and others appropriating cultural goods of the classical world.
