Betty L. Duncan-Goetz was born in Eastern Kentucky. She now lives in Southern California with her husband, Raymond, and a spirited little cockatiel named Butch, who is twenty-nine years old and thinks he is definitely "the boss." The author is a graduate of National University in San Diego. She did graduate work at University of San Diego and the University of California.
