Isaac Deutscher published the book: "Stalin, a Political Biography" in 1949, and it is considered his most prominent and unique work in the field of biography, as it revealed Stalin's life and work throughout his life. Like all distinguished biographies, the book provides excellent coverage of the history of the Russian Empire, and then the Soviet Union during the period of Stalin's rule, without being limited to political affairs only, but rather extending beyond them to the cultural, economic, and diplomatic sphere. The book generated controversy when it was first published, as Deutscher reveals how later Soviet propagandists distorted some facts about Stalin's early life in order to reflect a different impression than historians had recorded. And here we are issuing this book to the contemporary reader, twenty years after the publication of this Arabic translation, written by the great thinker Fawaz Trabelsi.
