The book, 'Standardization Techniques for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants' is basically based on Chromatographic techniques like HPTLC and HPLC which are at present the most versatile methods used for separation of active molecules of medicinal and aromatic plants. This Manual is on the standard techniques that provide methods on the analysis of active ingredient in some important MAPs. The book is divided into seven different chapters covering all aspects of standardization using HPTLC and HPLC techniques. Chapter one and two covers the basic principal aspects of HPTLC and HPLC, chapter three deals with the specific details of medicinal and aromatic plants under investigation. Chapter four, five and six deals with quantitative standards, general method of extraction and preparation of spray reagents and lastly chapter seven deals with the drying and storage of raw materials. The methods given in this manual are easy and fast to use. The contributors discuss every plant in terms of their analytical methods as well as biochemical parameters. The intention here is to provide with the simplified methods using common chromatographic instrument for the analysis of MAPs. The data obtained using these standard methods are accurate, comparable and well accepted. The literature present in the book provides a comprehensive overview of the standardization techniques in herbal analysis. All the chapters have been prepared keeping in mind the theoretical, practical and technical facts required by the post graduate students, research scholars, and chemists working the areas of medicinal and aromatic plants.
