A story could not begin more ingloriously. Young Willi Lenz is bored at school and tries to cover up his lack of preparation with a fever. When he is caught stealing, he is expelled from school. There are also problems in the family because the father is building a house on his own with the help of his sons' labor. While his friends spend the weekend at the disco, Willi is "allowed" to work on the building site. Eventually, the idea of attending a ship's boy's school matures in him. The theoretical training is followed by two years of practical training on the ship MS "Fryga". This is followed by exciting adventures on deck, but also many professional insights into seafaring and the so-called "economic miracle era".

Autorenporträt

Helmut Lucka wurde am 15. November 1952 geboren. Von 1972 bis 1975 besuchte er die Fachhochschule Oldenburg mit dem Fachbereich Seefahrt und schloss mit dem Wirtschafts-Ing. grad. für Seeverkehr als Kapitän auf Großer Fahrt ab. Danach begann er eine Ausbildung zum Seelotsen bei der Lotsenbrüderschaft Weser 1, Bremen und wurde 1987 zum Seelotsen bestellt. In 30 Jahren ¿ von 1987 bis 2017 ¿ führte er über 4 600 Lotsungen als Revier- und Hafenlotse auf Weser und Hunte durch. In Revierzentralen des Wasser- und Schifffahrtamtes in Bremen und Bremerhaven war er auch in der Radarberatung tätig. Er verfügt über Erfahrungen als Seelotse und Kapitän (überwiegend in der ¿Chemikalien Tankschifffahrt). Sein weiteres Spezialgebiet war die ¿Crude Oil Fahrt mit Supertankern¿ als Nautischer Offizier. Zu seinen besonderen Kompetenzen zählen Motivation und Ausdauer, Entscheidungsfähigkeit, Begeisterungsfähigkeit sowie Zielstrebigkeit und Zielorientierung.
