KAREN ANN COLBERT
At the age of 21, I took an art class that inspired me to pursue the arts. I decided to become an art teacher because I wanted to expose young children to their own personal journey through art-making. I love painting, drawing and sculpting. I love to see when a blank canvas collides with a brush and transforms into a masterpiece. I love to see when a lump of clay collides with hands and becomes a wonderful constructed form. I love to see when the imagination collides with creativity and becomes brilliance. Art gives me life and more importantly an outlet to be expressive and to let go of the stresses of life.
My personal art-making experiences, teaching art, and watching others create art has allowed me the freedom to be expressive and creative without feeling intimidated by what others think. Creating art can sometimes feel overwhelming to complete or to share with others. This art represents my passion to just make art. Art has also been a catalyst which ignites my passion to help others as well. I pray my work inspires others to feel passionate and love to pursue their own talents and dreams.
