H.P. Lovecraft was an American author best known for his classic horror fiction.  Lovecraft was virtually an unknown writer during his short lifetime but he is now considered to be one of the most famous writers in the genre of horror fiction.  Among Lovecraft's best known works are The Call of Cthulhu, At the Mountains of Madness, and The Shadow Out of Time.

Supernatural Horror in Literature is a long essay by Lovecraft on the topic of horror fiction.  In the essay Lovecraft also discusses weird fiction and gothic novels as well as other great writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Machen, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. A table of contents is included.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American writer born in Providence, Rhode Island. Best known for his work in the science, fantasy, and horror fiction genres, Lovecraft's writings are now studied worldwide. One of his most famous creations is the Cthulhu Mythos. Although he was unable to support himself through writing during his lifetime, Lovecraft's legacy has lived on. Many well-established horror authors have cited Lovecraft as a major influence.
