Former Special Forces Veteran Austin Abney returns home with PTSD from multiple tours in the middle east where he saw lots of action and turns to drinking to kill the pain which costs him his marriage and job. Eventually, he ends up on the street.

After excessive drinking one night he finds himself lying in an alley and is convinced that he is about to die, when what he could only perceive as an angel asks him if he wants a second chance at life. When he awakens, he finds that he is not the rough and tumble guy he once was but is now a petite brunette. Making her way to the 22nd Street Mission she meets with a handsome social worker, Gary, who helps her get her life turned around with a job at the mission and a place to live.

After attending church with Gary, she soon discovers that she potentially has feelings for him which is complicated because he is also her boss. However, she does enjoy going to church with him and quickly realizes that the new Austin also has a fantastic singing voice which just happens to attract the attention of a Christian music talent scout.

This novelette by Madison McCall is a heartwarming story of how faith can truly help one turn their life around even under the worst circumstances, especially when you have a little help from above.
