It was the harshest and most agonizing of choices for Susan to have to make - and all because she had offered to drive the kids to school following her friend's hen night the previous evening. Yes, she had too much to drink but doesn't everyone on a hen night? If only her husband had not felt ill? It was the harshest and most agonizing of choices for Susan to have to make - and all because she had offered to drive the kids to school following her friend's hen night the previous evening. Yes, she had too much to drink but doesn't everyone on a hen night? If only her husband had not felt ill? It was he who had previously promised to cover the school run that particular morning, but instead she found herself behind the wheel as she swerved to miss a dog and finished up in the window of a shop with a dead child under the wheels. The outcome of the trial was a foregone conclusion, death while under the influence of drink, albeit from the evening before. The sentence, however, came as a bitter shock to the 43 year old wife and mother of two - A life imprisonment with a minimum of fourteen years! Her solicitor, and indeed her family, blamed Susan for pleading guilty and making no attempt to defend herself as she was her strongest critic. She knew she had to be punished - but although fourteen years seemed rather harsh she accepted the judgement without argument and refused to appeal. Others. however, thought differently - one of whom was the local Mayor of her town, who offered her the opportunity to receive an alternative 'punishment' of working a five day eight hour shift in the recently opened official legal council brothel - poetically entitled the FUN HOUSE. She was offered the chance to be an equally poetically named FUN GIRL and be able to return home after work each day to continue being a wife and mother, by substituting each year of her original sentence with one month at the brothel, and thus be a 'free' woman after just fourteen months. The book follows Susan as she and her family decide which choice to make - prisoner or prostitute. It is a gripping and graphic account of a 'normal' housewife being thrust into a totally alien world of intimate sex, groping lascivious men, outlandish sex games and becoming adjusted mentally to a loathsome way of life - and all because she had one drink too many at a friend's hen party the previous night. It could have happened so innocently to anyone - so don;t be afraid to answer - there but for the grace of God - go I.
