Autorenporträt
Julie Tetel Andresen grew up in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, Illinois. For the past twenty years she has lived in Durham, North Carolina with her husband, Marcel, and her two sons, Francis and Gerard. She teaches linguistics at Duke University when she is not concentrating on her writing career. She is the author of several historical romances, published with Fawcett, Warner, and Harlequin. In the past several years she has become increasingly involved in programs that involve the North Carolina Library Association. Ph.D., UNC-Chapel Hill, 1980. Director of Undergraduate Studies. Writes in the field of linguistic historiography, focusing on French, German, and American theories of language from the eighteenth- through the twentieth- centuries. She is the author of Linguistics in America 1769-1924: A Critical History (Routledge, 1990, paperback edition 1996). She is currently finishing a manuscript entitled Relocating Language(ing) and co-editing a volume of monographs written by the Chilean experimental epistemologist Humberto Maturana. In addition, she has published fifteen historical novels which are being reissued under the imprint Windows on History. She is Director of the Duke University-University of Bucharest, Romania Faculty Exchange
