The Tales of the Neebor Lee describes the history of a single home from the period of colonial settlement in Pennsylvania to the end of the 20th Century. It consists of a series of well-researched essays that together tell a story of America's growth and development from the perspective of the home's former owners and residents. The story begins with the property's original settler, a wealthy Quaker slaveholder, and it takes us through the American Revolutionary war as seen through the eyes of a patriot and the loyalists who resided on the property at various times. The book also recalls a wealthy industrialist family who brought a bit of the gilded age to the property in the 19th Century and forever changed the appearance of the home, and the hero of two World Wars who fought to prevent the home's destruction. Although this book's title calls these stories tales, the stories are true, unembellished and researched from historical archives, newspapers and written family histories.
