The book relates experience of TBM drives in difficult geology, making use of case studies from Turkey to demonstrate the influence of the local geotechnical conditions on the selection of a tunnel boring machine and the selection of tools. Nuh Bilgin lehrt seit 1989 als Professor an der Fakultät für Bergbau der TU Istanbul und ist Vorsitzernder der Turkish Tunnelling Society. Hanifi Copur und Cemal Balci forschen und lehren ebenfalls an der Fakultät für Bergbau der TU Istanbul und sind Mitglieder des Vorstandes der Turkish Tunnelling Society.
