Autorenporträt
Georg Michelson gained his MD from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in 1982 and subsequently served his residency and fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at the university, gaining his Habilitation in 1992. He is currently Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in the department and is the Founder and Director of the Interdisciplinary Center of Ophthalmic Preventive Medicine and Imaging at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Dr. Michelson is a member of the Program Committee of the German Ophthalmology Society (DOG). He received in 1999 the Prize "Klinische Monatsblätter für Augenheilkunde", in 2006 the "Medicine-Technique-Health"- Prize of Erlangen, in 2007 the Innovation-Prize of Stiftung Familie Klee, in 2008 the eHealth-Prize of the University Bayreuth, in 2012 the Karl-Storz Telemedicine-Prize, and in 2012 the DOG Glaucoma Prize. He is a founder and member of the International Society of Ocular Circulation and Oximetry (ISOCO) and served as President of the society from 2006 to 2009. He is currently Vice-President of the Association of Ocular Circulation (AOC). Dr. Michelson is publisher and editor of the Atlas of Ophthalmology (online multimedia database). He is the author of 129 peer-reviewed publications.
