This is the first book in a series about Jack and Dobbie, two Chihuahuas, who became "brothers" by adoption. The series begins at the point where Dobbie, who was previously abused, is adopted through a local animal rescue group as a playmate for Jack. The events are true and most of the pictures were drawn from actual photographs. The book is intended to be read as a pleasant bedtime story of about eight minutes in length, or a book that beginning readers can enjoy by themselves. It is a story about love in the lives of two little dogs, and the joy that comes from adopting a pet.

Autorenporträt
Shirley Scott and her husband, Ray, live on ten acres, in the small town of Hoagland, Indiana, with their two Chihuahuas, Jack and Dobbie. Jack came to live with the Scotts, because his former owners were moving and could not take him along. Jack followed Shirley constantly and seemed very lonely, so they adopted Dobbie from a pet rescue organization. Dobbie, who was severely abused by his former owners, had many behavior problems and insecurities; therefore, the Scotts knew it was going to take a great deal of patience for him to adjust to proper care. Shirley and Ray were also faced with not knowing if the two dogs would be compatible with each other in the long term. As it turned out, Dobbie was the perfect playmate for Jack, and the Chihuahuas have brought the Scotts much enjoyment. The author is writing this book series to document, and share with others, the natural interaction and sometimes amusing behavior, of the two newest "members" of her family, as they go about their lives.
