In 1876, Mark Twain's novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was first printed on the adventures of a carefree boy and his friends. Tom lives in a small town in the house of Aunt Polly, who brings him up after the death of the boy's mother. A few months from the life of Tom Sawyer, his friends Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper, the girls Amy Laurence and Becky Tatcher (who won the heart of young Tom) and other characters became the classics of a children's novel, and Mark Twain made America's most famous children's writer.
