E. Holmes was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She now resides in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She successfully earned an associate degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She was presented the Editor's Choice Award for outstanding achievement in poetry from the National Library of Poetry in 1994.
