It begins with a historical survey of the Gulf sheikhdoms and their ceaseless attempts to secure a steady foundation for their rule. ... The Arab Gulf States and Reform in the Middle East is a useful introduction to the complexities of the Gulf." (Survival, Vol. 58 (2), April-May, 2016)
