Autorenporträt
William Walker Atkinson was born on December 5, 1862, was an occultist and a founder of the New Thought movement. He was an attorney, businessman, publisher, and author. He died on November 22, 1932. He wrote under the pen name Theron Q. Dumont. All of his works, which he wrote in the last 30 years of his life, totaled about 100. Since 1900, his books have been published essentially continually. He was answerable for publishing the magazines New Thought (1890-1901), Suggestion (1901-1905), and Advanced Thought (1906-1916). In 1901 he accepted the editorship of Sydney Flower's New Thought magazine. During the 1890s, Atkinson had become inspired by Hinduism and yoga. After 1900 he dedicated a lot of work to the diffusion of yoga and Oriental mystery. His works are presently credited to several different authors.Claims that Atkinson co-wrote books with Baba Bharata, a pupil of the late Indian spiritualist Yogi Ramacharaka (1799 - c.1893), can't be verified. No record exists in India of such an educator and there is no proof of his immigration to America. In 1875 Helena Petrovna Blavatsky established the Theosophical Society, through which she spread the lessons of mysterious Himalayan illuminated yogis. After her demise, representatives from known ancestries of Indian and Asian spiritual and philosophical traditions began coming toward the West.
