Melia McLean is a humble taxi driver, (or so she seems, this week). She is asked to ferry around a researcher from Salford University (or so he pretends to be), called Mort. They are going to see 'The Guvnor', a desperate criminal in the prison up on the moors. Mort says he is 'writing a book' and wants to interview this former crime boss. Melia hovers in the background, listening in, for her own reasons. Unfortunately, events develop, threats arise, and Mort and Melia have to work together to save themselves from The Guvnor and the remnants of his gang who are still outside prison. Obviously, they want him to keep quiet about them and their nefarious activities. They are less than happy when their former boss gets out of prison - even if only temporarily - and make up their minds to silence him, once and for all. If a driver and a 'researcher' get caught in the crossfire, while unlucky for them. Mort and Melia, fighting for their lives, are brought together, in the most dangerous of cricumstances and find their feelings for each other may actually provide the energy they need to escape the desparadoes.
