Edgar Allan Poe: A prominent character in American Romanticism, Edgar Allan Poe was an American author, poet, and literary critic. Mark Twain: Famous American author and comedian Mark Twain (1835-1910) is best known for his books ""The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"" and ""The Adventures of Tom Sawyer."" He was one of the most significant authors in American literature because of his comedy, satire, and social criticism in his work. O. Henry: William Sydney Porter, an American author best known for his bright and funny short tales, wrote under the pen name O. Henry. His stories often had unexpected conclusions and an emphasis on common people in commonplace circumstances. Wells Hastings: Wells Hastings was an American dramatist, screenwriter, and director who lived from 1900 to 1967. His work on the Broadway version of ""Stage Door"" and his partnerships with director Frank Capra are what made him most famous.
