A litterateur and a number cruncher, Dr Rachna Singh is an unusual blend of literary panache and financial acumen. With a masters and MPhil degree in English Literature and three gold medals for academic excellence under her belt, Singh was awarded the Nehru centenary scholarship to pursue a doctorate degree at Cambridge University. However, a capricious fate, beckoned and Singh joined the Indian Revenue Service in 1991. Dr Singh is well-versed in the intricacies of taxation, finance, economics, regulations and law, which she has been handling for 27 years. She is currently posted as Commissioner Income Tax at Delhi.

The travails of a demanding career notwithstanding Dr Singh has been penning articles for various National Dailies. She has authored two books on economic issues, 'Penny Panache: Piecing the Economic Puzzle'(2016) and 'Financial Felicity: Making Sense of Money Matters'(2017). 'Myriad Musings' (2016) is a collection of her published articles and travelogues.
