On the subtle and not so subtle ways in which bodies are shaped by the Holocaust until today, the ways the body is nevertheless mostly overlooked in memorial site education and the pedagogical implications of recognizing the body in memorial site education. I engage the methodology of politicized somatics in the case study of memorial site education as an example of how Peace and Conflict Studies could recognize the body and somatic dimensions of peace and conflict in general. The question that this exploration of the body in memorial site education sets out to answer is: how can the perspective of politicized somatics contribute to memorial site education at former Nazi concentration camps in Germany? It is based on the hypothesis that recognizing the body could inform more holistic, multidimensional, and transformative iterations of memorial site education, and memorial culture in general.

Autorenporträt

Franka Rauch ist Internationale Sozialarbeiterin (B.A.), Friedensforscherin (M.A.) und Lehrerin für Kundalini Yoga und Meditation. Sie arbeitet als Beraterin, Coach und Trainerin für eine ganzheitliche Friedenskultur als tägliche Praxis, die im Körper beginnt. Franka hat in Deutschland, Myanmar und Mexiko studiert und sich dort mit dekolonialen und somatischen Perspektiven in der Friedensforschung beschäftigt. Anschließend folgte ihre Ausbildung als Beraterin für gewaltfreie Konflikttransformation bei der KURVE Wustrow Bildungs- und Begegnungsstätte für gewaltfreie Aktion. Eine Fortbildung in Theaterpädagogik in der Konfliktbearbeitung beim Friedenskreis Halle mit Till Baumann u.A., und in Somatic Mediation bei Jana Schildt in Berlin haben Frankas Spezialisierung auf das spannende Zusammenspiel von Körper, Konflikten und Frieden weiter vertieft. In ihrer Arbeit mit Einzelpersonen, Teams und Gruppen gehen persönliche und kollektive Transformation stets Hand in Hand: Politische Analyse, künstlerische Ansätze und somatische Heilung verbindet sie auf theoretisch fundierte und gleichzeitig alltagstaugliche Weise.
