The British South Africa Police, Origins and Early History 1885-1901 by 1084 Trooper William Bernard Bussy comprises articles that first appeared in the Police Review (forerunner to the Outpost) between 1911 and 1914. It describes events and formations of various units that led to the formation of the BSAP. Because the Editor of the Police Review knew and spoke to most of the contributors, this book must be considered an authentic account which later provided a strong basis for the Gibbs/Phillips History of the Force.
