About the Authors

After earning a BA in English (Vanderbilt University), Pamela S. Showalter worked ten years in the corporate world then entered graduate school, earning an MA in Anthropology from Arizona State University followed by a PhD in Geography from the University of Colorado (Boulder). She became a geography professor, retiring from Texas State University after writing numerous peer-reviewed academic articles and co-editing Geospatial Techniques in Urban Hazards and Disaster Analysis (Springer Publishing). She now works primarily as a landscape photographer, displaying and selling her work at a variety of venues and at pamela-showalter.pixels.com.

Raylene Bell earned both her BS and MS in Speech Pathology from Texas Tech University (Lubbock). She spent over 40 years in that field working for hospitals, in management, as a consultant, as an expert witness, and in her own clinics. She recently retired from her position as President of the Central Texas Region of Cole Pediatric Therapy.
