"The Charm of Poetry" is a collection of poems, short poems and aphorisms. As the title of this book states, poetry has a charm to which it is difficult to remain indifferent, both for the writer of poetry and the reader. Poetry can arise suddenly from an inspiration or from a felt emotion: of love, joy, anger or sorrow. Other times poetic compositions, such as sonnets, haiku and baishù must follow a definite metrical pattern and then their composition requires a lot of hard work and dedication.
The poets Giovanni Pascoli and Severino Ferrari used to refer to their poetic activity with the term: weaving. They metaphorically alluded to the poet's craft and the act of writing. Like weavers, poets weave words, rhymes and concepts, performing a task as difficult and meticulous as weaving in the classical sense.
With this poetry collection, the author would like to fascinate readers, inviting them to discover the beauty of the variety of poetry forms.
Maurica Obbietti was born and lives in Genoa. After graduating from classical high school, she studied mathematics at the University of Genoa. Her love for literature, writing and her dreamy soul led her to write two collections of poems "Emotions in verse" (2017) and "The Charm of Poetry" (2023). She has won awards in various literary competitions. She is also passionate about music and computer science.
