After a sneak away Friday afternoon with school friends, in and out of the inspiring music of the town bar, Tricia knows she has to get home. With seeding on the farm disallowed that spring, she joins her family gathered around the latest letter from the Repatriation Office requesting their presence tomorrow. Tricia explains as best she can to her pissed off father how grandfather's sword worked better for honor than combat. Stepping down from Dad's welding truck next day, she accepts the attendant's office pamphlets on a smaller farm and applying Dad's work skills to new energy sources. Comparing the situation to her native friend's people moving onto reserve last century she knows she can only do so much. She needs something outside herself to help make it work, and maybe that bird can bring on a new belief.
