Autorenporträt
Pat has been writing poems for over thirty five years. Most of her education came from the "School of Hard Knocks." Born in Texas and raised during the 1930's depression era she and her family had little in the way of material things. There was no indoor plumbing, running water, or electricity. The toilet was some distance "out behind the back of the house." Although her family had little "food wise" when Hobo's (as they were referred to back then,) came knocking on the back door, her mother found a bit of food for them. Pat's family moved to California when she was fourteen. She immediately found a job working four hours a day and Saturdays, attending school four hours. After High School Pat was then able to work full time. Back then people understood if you want something in life you go out and work for it. There was no welfare or "give away" programs. No "free lunch." Later, after working at various jobs, and modeling in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles, she worked over fifty one years in real estate. It was sometimes referred to as a "twenty four hour, seven days a week job." Starting with nothing but hard work, knowledge and "OPM" (it's called Other People's Money,) she was able to acquire twenty eight rental units. However, in the early nineties, because of the real estate down turn in California, she lost it all. She got "upside down" in her properties, owing more than they were worth. At that point in her life it was too late to "make it over again." Through all the adversities and challenges her faith kept her going. She was baptized at age eleven. She later attended the Church of Christ in San Leandro and Vallejo, California and Cleveland, Ga. Pat has written over 1300 poems, and has published two more books, "Poems For Conservatives," and "My Journey As A Realtor." She is working on her fourth and fifth books. She has written poems for a Governor, U. S. Senator, U. S. Congressman, two Ga. State Representatives, and a Secretary of State, plus other dignitaries. She write personalized poems and poems on all different subjects.
