Fear gripped his heart - should he or shouldn't he, risk his own life to help someone who could easily eat him? He asked himself this every day. But time was running out.

This story of an unlikely friendship will warm your heart and tickle your tummy and yet teach children the importance of caring, sharing, facing bullying, and helping another who cannot help themself. The children will also be introduced to catchy Spanish phrases and learn a fun song.

"Wow! I am simply amazed by this awesome book! Rico is such an amazing character, and all the other characters are so entertaining. This book has my kids and myself completely engaged and looking forward to the next page. I brought Ava, my ten-year-old, to the Wildlife Reserve in Manuel Antonio, and she believes that Rico lives there!"

Richard (Rick) and Diana Alvarez were married for 36 years and had four amazing children. They lived on a small date ranch for 20 years in Southern California.Rick worked for 35 years in education and had a master's degree in administration. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, he started as a teacher. Shortly thereafter, he became a principal for many years. At the time of this book's second publication, he retired as a former Assistant Superintendent of Public Education. In 2013, he started a church on a Native American reservation. He served as pastor for seven years until his passing on October 10, 2020.Diana worked in education for over 25 years. She started as a teacher's aide, and after 16 years of pursuing her education, she graduated with a BS in Social Sciences and a MA in Special Education. She has a dual credential in General Education and Special Education. She also taught ESL classes, but her delight was in Special Education, which she taught for 15 years before retiring.Rick and Diana also had the privilege of watching their four children grow, achieve their masters (one has a doctorate), and marry. They have ten grandchildren. All the men in the family are ministers; two of whom are pastors. Five of the children are teachers. Two of their sons are also published authors. One of their children was born with a speech impediment. When he was very young, he had difficulty pronouncing certain sounds. Rick would create little stories and songs to help their son with his speech. Their son was able to overcome his disability by becoming a musician. Rick originated The Coco Loco Tiger of the Mountain story and song, and Diana enhanced it.Diana continues to write books that educate, encourage, and inspire. She finds great pleasure in illustrating her books. Her goal is to inspire others to pursue their dreams and to continue to serve her family, church, and community.
