Christine Papin and Léa Papin were two French maids who murdered their employer's wife and daughter in Le Mans, France, on 2 February 1933. The murders were a shock to the country and but some saw the maids as symbols of the underclass lashing out against the rich.The case has formed the basis of a number of films and plays.
