Produktbeschreibung
England, 1645. In a time of witchcraft and war, orphan Benjamin Blake lives and works at his uncle's Essex inn. Located on the road to London, Benjamin is in a position to overhear the latest reports from the ongoing civil war and the fearful whisperings of witches troubling the countryside.

Events around Benjamin collide in a single night when, following news that the Battle of Naseby has broken the king's army, the inn is burgled with fatal results; Benjamin's uncle is murdered and Benjamin himself left for dead.

With Benjamin clinging to the last of life, four dark strangers arrive to investigate the quiet inn. What the boy initially perceives as demon forms turn out to be youthful vampires, made undead to serve as familiars to the witch Adefina Corvus. Among them, it is the Roman warrior girl Juno who acts to save Benjamin with her bite and Benjamin is forever transformed.

It falls to Juno and the rest - Darach, a warrior Celt, Brother Varney a novice monk with a special pair of samurai swords, and Brill (never Brilliana!) a mischievous girl who claims to have been the youngest spy employed by Queen Elizabeth I - to introduce Benjamin to his vampire life with its possibilities and limitations (the titular Curse of Silver and Sunlight)

Of far more importance, the vampires explain how they fled their witch after failing in an opportunity to turn her book of dark magic against her. Now, as she follows with murderous intent, the vampires must keep her book from her reach as they race to board a ship from England.

The pieces are now in place for a chase towards London and a race against time to decode the witch's grimoire for one last chance to face and defeat her. In the heat of one chaotic encounter with those pursuing (Adefina is assisted by loyal familiars Rok, a savage Viking, and the demon Ilemauzar) Benjamin comes into possession of a vital clue that may yield the grimoire's secrets. With the book apparently ready to serve a new master, it falls to Benjamin to learn its secrets and save those who saved him before Adefina catches up.
