The Scottish Highlands are more or less settled after the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 and its aftermaths and Ewen Cameron, lord of Ardroy lives in peace with his beloved Alison and their two young boys, when they get a visit by Ian Stewart, Ewen's cousin who is being pressured to get married.
