As climate chaos approaches, what can stories offer? How does art help us make sense of our inertia and denialism, and how can it help us cope with the changes to come? There are no easy answers, but "The Disappearing Shore" can begin the conversation. - Sarah Outterson Murphy, Teacher of Literature and Writing, Princeton, New Jersey

What do we owe the future?

This enigmatic three-part novella features a diversity of unlikely heroes who have gazed into the future and don't like what they see. Some will have to live there while others will be long gone. The one thing they all share is a determination to stop widespread collapse and restore the damaged world.

They have no illusions. They know they're up against powerful forces that see the Earth as a resource-buffet rather than the living wonder it is. Still, our heroes continue to speak out despite their despair, and the apathy that surrounds them.

Following their protests - full of candour and dark humour - The Disappearing Shore imagines a much different tomorrow where their legacy continues in ways they could never imagine.

We are at an extraordinary point in human history and this bold work of fiction by Roberta Park gives a voice to those who refuse to look away.

Roberta Park is the pen name I chose for The Disappearing Shore.

I'm an author, playwright, editor and community activist living in Toronto, Canada and have a special interest in the place where art and science meet. A clue to my outlook can be found in the subtitle of my website: Monkeying Around in the Garden of Eden.

If you enjoyed The Disappearing Shore, please do me a favour and leave an honest review where you purchased it.
