H. Paul Santmire has been an ecumenical leader in the field of ecojustice and ecological theology for more than fifty years. His first book, Brother Earth (1970), is widely recognized as a pioneering classic. The author of The Travail of Nature (1985), Nature Reborn (2000), Ritualizing Nature (2008), Before Nature (2014), Behold the Lilies (Cascade Books, 2017), and Celebrating Nature by Faith (Cascade Books, 2020), Santmire has also long been an enthusiastic participant in church ecoactivist ministries such as the Boston Industrial Mission and Lutherans Restoring Creation.
