Based on a set of lectures delivered at the University of St. Andrews between 1890 and 1892, Caird's aim is to appeal to those alienated from the ordinary dogmatic system of belief, but who, at the same time, are conscious that they have owed a great part of their spiritual life to the teachings of the Bible and the Christian Church. Volume Two discusses the relationship between objective and subjective religions, goodness and happiness, Judaism and Christianity, as well as Jesus and his place in religionmost notably in Christianity.
