Autorenporträt
Dallas Lore Sharp (1870-1929) was an American author, naturalist, and academic, best known for his lyrical and anecdotal writings on nature and the outdoors. Born in Haleyville, New Jersey, Sharp was an eloquent proponent of the natural world, drawing from the rich experiences of his rural upbringing. He attended Brown University and later became an English professor at Boston University, where he combined his love for literature with a fervent passion for the environment. In 'The Fall of the Year', Sharp immerses readers in the seasonal shifts of the American wilderness, capturing the ebbing of life as summer wanes and autumn asserts its cool dominion. His works often reflect a Transcendentalist influence, reminiscent of Thoreau and Emerson, emphasizing the spirituality found in nature. Sharp's fluid prose and vivid imagery invite readers to observe and appreciate the subtleties of the world around them. His books are marked by a contemplative tone and a genteel articulation of the wonder and beauty inherent in the wild. Aside from his literary contributions, Sharp's devotion to conservation and education made him an influential voice in the early environmental movement, encouraging respect and preservation of the natural landscape.
