S.K. DeMarinis used to hear fanciful stories of her family's colorful Italian history from her father, when they shared a home in his final years. Rather disturbing stories of her ancestor's scams and shenanigans were revealed in minute detail. Sue decided to write a fictional version of these tales, intertwined with actual historical events that occurred during those times. Sue lives far away from her notorious New York roots, in Southern Oregon, and has retired after her thirty year career there as a chiropractor. She shares her home with her adopted daughter, who is glad she benefits from a fruitful family legacy and from which she hasn't inherited any genes.
