Produktbeschreibung
In *The Forest Lovers*, Maurice Hewlett weaves a rich tapestry of romance, adventure, and mysticism set against the lush backdrop of medieval England. The narrative unfolds through the lives of its central characters, emphasizing themes of love and the eternal conflict between societal expectations and personal desire. Hewlett's lyrical prose, suffused with vivid descriptions and a keen sense of the natural world, reveals the profound connection between humanity and nature. This historical novel, imbued with elements of fantasy, explores the idea of escapism, drawing parallels to the burgeoning modernist themes of the early 20th century. Maurice Hewlett (1861-1923) was a seminal figure in Edwardian literature, whose works often reflect his own fascination with nature, myths, and the complexities of human emotion. His experiences traveling through the English countryside and studying folklore and history profoundly influenced his writing. *The Forest Lovers*, published in 1898, encapsulates Hewlett's passion for the past and his desire to elevate the art of storytelling, attempting to blend the romantic with the realistic in his portrayal of characters grappling with their identities. For readers who appreciate historical fiction rich in detail and emotional depth, *The Forest Lovers* offers a compelling journey through time. Hewlett's masterful storytelling invites readers to immerse themselves in a world of enchantment and intrigue, making it a must-read for anyone interested in the delicate interplay of love and nature during an era of profound change.

Autorenporträt
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, British author, poet, and essayist Maurice Henry Hewlett made significant contributions to historical fiction. Hewlett was educated at the University College School in London and studied at the British Museum. He was born on February 22, 1861, in Weymouth, England. His historical novels, which are frequently set in the mediaeval or Renaissance eras, brought Hewlett notoriety. "The Forest Lovers" (1898), a retelling of the Robin Hood story, and "The Life and Death of Richard Yea-and-Nay" (1900), a novel based on the life of Richard the Lionheart, are two of his most well-known works. His narratives were engrossing because he combined poetic language with an acute awareness of historical fact. Even though Hewlett's fame waned in the last decades of the 1900s, his creations were warmly embraced while he was alive. On June 15, 1923, Maurice Hewlett passed suddenly. He left behind a corpus of work that demonstrated his love of literature, history, and narrative.
