Both countries had large arsenals of nuclear warheads and large land and sea armed forces. Sometimes, both sides utilized extraordinary tactics to achieve the balance of power. This story, although fictitious, demonstrates how certain factions try to take an upper hand by the kidnapping of a physicist and a rescue mission across deserts in the Middle East, which almost brings the world to a thermonuclear war.

Raised in Munhall, Pennsylvania; freshman year at Waynesburg College immediately after high school; four years in the USAF; registered medical technologist in September 1966; graduated Point Park College on May 1974; EMT certified in 1977; paramedic certified in 1978; night supervisor of pathology lab in 1978-1992; chairman of the medical technician department, the Western School; instructor-trainer at the American Heart Association for fourteen years; the first EMS coordinator for emergency medical services, Green County, in 1979-1980; evaluator for basic and advanced life support programs for the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; instructed medical assistants in three medical technical schools; and assisted in basic life support programs at California State.
