Ross compares reading The Fourth Brother and life in the 60's to what her generation enjoyed reading in the Little House on the Prairies stories. As a young four-year-old sister, Krissy feels like she's one of the boys, The Fourth Brother in fact, as she absorbs the essence of boyhood in her brothers' care! Join in the rollicking times of the young Brune siblings as they adventure through the lazy days of summer in1960 rural Minnesota. Living on the edge of an eighteen-acre wood which shares a neighboring graveyard, they have trees to climb, forts to build, and TROUBLE to get into. Kids will be kids no matter what era it is, and you may feel like you're one of them as they entertain themselves with the items they find at hand. When the excitement of a clever new idea pops up in the group, Mike, Rich, Tom, and Krissy begin to brainstorm using every skill they can muster to bring their plan to life! Rifling through a garage full of their Father's construction tools and supplies, they work together to create the special ingredient that provides the finishing touch for their army games. In the process of fun and labor they learn some helpful life lessons but also must face the tough consequences of their unbridled enthusiasm.

Autorenporträt
Kristine Ross is an expressive person with a poet's heart who has engaged in acting, art, singing, and teaching throughout her life. She attended St. Phillip's Catholic School for eight whole (holy) years. This shaped respect, reverence, and freedom to express herself as an individual with a higher calling. In 1960, at four years of age, her mother's busy wash days required that she tag along with her three older brothers in the outdoors of rural Minnesota. This encouraged her to explore the world around her and to create, in response to her experiences. She later taught Art to students of various ages, wishing to endow them with a desire to learn with a spirit of exploration, and to discover themselves in that process. Kristine has a love for nature and hiking which she connects with every day. Along with that her love of God and Family are the cornerstones and purposes which inspire her. Growing up with funny family stories, she now has come to realize that memories are storybooks waiting to happen. Through stories children learn the love and promise that God intends for them. Thus, she has begun her final frontier of writing.
