The Girl in the Heart is a novel based on an authentic account. The book narrates a life story with a focus on how one is shaped by their parents and becomes entrenched in patterns and traumas. The protagonist, Ida, unconsciously attempts to make herself invisible, thereby limiting herself because the patterns became her worst enemy. The book further details the process of recognizing patterns and strategies, shedding the armor Ida had to don to survive. We learn about how she rediscovered the unspoiled baby, that is, the girl in the heart. It is revealed in the end that Ida's transformation is not only a positive process for herself but also for her mother and their reconciliation.
The narrative unfolds from the 1950s and spans 50 years. In addition to following human development, we also witness some of the historical developments during those years.
