Pilar is a shadowy figure who had served as a sniper during the revolution. After the war ended, she is sent to Russia for extensive training in espionage and political assassination. When she first comes to the U.S. at the age of 21, she is well schooled in killing with guns, knives and poisons. She has the authority to kill at will. She takes a job at Bobby Baker's infamous Quorum Club, which Baker established with the blessings of Vice-President Lyndon Johnson for the purpose of spying on political figures in Washington.
