The chief priest, Okomfo Tutugyagu, who bore witness to this ominous event was torn between tradition and safeguarding the peace and stability of Nsuota. Looking at the king's failing health, it might not be long when the king would breathe his last, but dying without a legitimate heir would make Nsuota vulnerable to external threats. Rival kingdoms would seize the opportunity to invade and plunder. And the kingdom itself could descend into chaos as internal power struggles is inevitable to erupt over the coveted throne.
