After an earthquake, an archetypal land opens for Meggin, Stephanie, and Beam. There, they encounter a dog-like Sphinx, who becomes their guide and remains their ally even after death. The three are challenged to solve the riddle of how to save the Gold People, who have been swallowed by a giant snake, and to stop more sacrifices demanded by the Wormsak. The ending shows us the way in which fantasy can pour into reality.

Autorenporträt
As a young man, the author had experiences of a symbolic world, which helped him to envision fictional ones that are archetypically sound. He also draws upon his teaching of college classes on the symbolism of indigenous cultures and paleolithic art found in deep caves. Last, his familiarity with his own dreams, and teaching classes on dream interpretation has helped to keep him in touch with the symbolic world.
