They cuddle, they frolic, they bounce! Follow this family of twins as they invite sixteen chickens to join their topsy-turvy world. Autorenporträt
Author/artist Faye Lippitt is a former journalist who found her inspiration in the happy chaos that enveloped their country home as she and her husband raised their six children. The six arrived in eight years, sometimes arriving two by two, which made for interesting times. Her first book, Sixteen Chickens on a Trampoline, is a compilation of snapshots of the family on their acreage in Canada. And then there were none. The kids grew and, well, flew the coop. Suddenly the nest was empty, leaving the parents wondering what the next adventure might be. They said Cayman Island was the place they ought to be so they loaded up the bags and they moved beside the sea. Caribbean that is. Palm trees. Turquoise waters. The Great Caribbean Chicken Caper captures the story and headline chapter of Sixteen Chickens on a Trampoline, only now our characters are from the Caribbean where there are many, many chickens. Of course it is the author's hope that parents will purchase both books, one to read when they can steal five minutes from their day, and one for that precious time when they read with their children. It is also her hope that parents will take time to write their own stories, and for children to write their stories and drawings in the back pages provided. For time unravels the memory, and the things our children do and say are crazy enough and precious enough to keep forever. All profits from the purchase of these books go to support literacy in the Caribbean.
