Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) was a Polish-British novelist and short-story writer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the English language and is best known for his works ""Heart of Darkness"" and ""Lord Jim."" Conrad's writing explores themes of imperialism, colonialism, and the human experience in a rapidly changing world. Ford M. Hueffer (1873-1939), later known as Ford Madox Ford, was an English novelist, poet, and editor. He is best known for his novel ""The Good Soldier"" and for co-founding the literary magazine ""The English Review."" Ford's writing also explores themes of human psychology and the complexities of modern life. Conrad and Hueffer first met in 1898 and quickly became close friends and writing partners. They collaborated on several works, including ""The Inheritors"" and ""Romance,"" before eventually parting ways due to personal differences. Despite their brief collaboration, Conrad and Hueffer had a significant impact on modernist literature. Their writing explored the psychological complexities of human experience and challenged traditional ideas about colonialism and imperialism. Today, they are recognized as two of the most influential writers of the 20th century.
