As a teacher living and working in New York City Department of Education I found myself jotting down or recording many audio anecdotes my students were saying and doing that brought me to tears regularly. This book is a lovingly dedicated and devoted memoir which honors the amazing students that crossed my path, and the relationship we continue to foster to date. It begins with how I got into teaching, moving away from the corporate world, and finding my destiny as a Speech Pathologist, rediscovering my purpose and my passion.

Autorenporträt
H. Courteney Mayers is a poet and author of many and varied works, including poems, short stories, and plays. Courteney recalls writing her first play at the tender age of 10 and performing it with her best friend, sisters, and neighborhood boys, for the entire family. But it was her poems that would catapult her into an exciting arena. This poetess first collection of poems was published in May 2006 by AuthorHouse a publishing company located in Bloomington, Indiana. This educator graduated from Pace University in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology. After graduating Courteney worked in the corporate world for several years, but it was her love for children that would change her vision and ultimately lead her into her destiny. For the past 23 years Courteney taught Speech and Language for the Department of Education in New York City. While teaching she simultaneously received her Master's of Science degree in Reading Education from Brooklyn College, under the esteemed mentorship of Dr. Marguerite Thompson. In 2001 Courteney received the Educator of the month Award for her contribution to the Teacher Opportunity Corps program (TOC), where she performed many of her poems. This first full-length book by the author, is a memoir dedicated to the wonderfully, amazing, and comical students H. Courteney encountered while teaching for the Department of Education. Throughout this writing, the author says she truly felt the movement of the Holy Spirit in every aspect, from recalling intricate details and information to encountering former students on a whim. She hopes that this book will inspire past educators to revel in their joys of teaching, and current teachers to embrace, enlighten, and illuminate every student's life entering their classroom.
