She draws inspiration from the actions of people, art, nature, children and the fantasy world and the relationships between these themes. She strives to create books that teach children about friendships, love for people, nature and the importance of planting a seed through reading books they enjoy so that their imaginations can grow and develop. Genie lives in California near her family and takes regular trips to her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin.
