Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916) - is a wonderful Polish prose writer, the Nobel Prize in Literature Winner and the author of the splendid historical books. "The Knights of the Cross" - is a large-scale creation by Sienkiewicz, one of the best novels on the history of Poland, issued under his pen. It narrates in the book about the bloody times of the Jagiellonian dynasty, which came to power after the death of the Polish queen Jadwiga. The description of the court intrigues of the royal surrounding takes turns on the pages of the novel with the lyrically-tragic love story which connected the hearts of the young warrior Zbyszko and pretty singer Danusia.
